I was eagerly waiting for my package when I received a mobile notification that my package was out for delivery from the local facility.
I waited all day, but I got another message at the end of the day saying that my address needed to be corrected.
The next morning, I called the courier service. I was shocked when they told me to update my address which I had used for many years.
I demanded that it be delivered to the same address.
After this, I got a call from an unidentified number (new on Truecaller). The caller began discussing about the illegal items in my package and said my shipment had been frozen.
In the beginning, I believed the call pertained to the courier problem, but it soon became apparent that it was some fraudulent attempt.
The caller pretended to be from the customs office. He attempted to intimidate me with his tone of voice.
Sensing that something was wrong, I ended the call and blocked the number. Approximately an hour later, they made another attempt to contact me from a different number, but I took the same action.
I think my phone number may have been leaked to these scammers from the courier service.
When I researched this topic on the net I found that many individuals have recently become victims of such scams.

Scammers use various strategies to prey on people, often focusing on regular individuals who are unaware.
They can even force the victim into appearing on video calls, where they record everything, and they use authoritative tones, as though the victim has committed a crime.
To further frighten their victims, they occasionally display fictitious arrest warrants.
Both educated professionals and homemaker ladies have fallen victim to these traps. Significant financial losses, frequently in the lakhs of rupees, can result from the scams.
If you receive a suspicious call, especially about packages or legal matters, do not provide any personal information. Avoid unsolicited phone calls regarding held goods.
The most important thing at this point is to maintain your cool by resisting panic.
The second long-term thing is to maintain your awareness.
By sharing my experience, I hope I can help protect others from falling victim to these scams.
