During childhood while crossing the door of my house I use to push it in order to close it with the help of my foot because generally my hands were pre-occupied with my sports articles. Later on it became my habit and I did the same even empty handed and at times I just literally used to kick the door and get it whamed badly to make a big noise.
One day my aunt called me up and enquired the matter with me that why do i kick the door. I simply grinned regretfully as I was not having any kind of explaination for it. She asked me to put my forehead against the door and seek apology in my prayer. In India we touch something with our forehead as a mark of respect and gratitude. She warned me not to do kick the door in future and if she found doing me so to the door she will be angry enough and shall request the door to not protect me by blocking the cold winds and thieves.
Being a child I realized my big mistake and was quite scared, there after I developed a sense of respect for my all doors. I am carryiong this sense till today. Here in India I have watched many people touching their keyboards and CPUs with their forhead on reaching their workstations in offices. They just intend to start their day by giving a whole hearted prayer. Some do the same to the entry gates of their work places. Also it has been observed more commonly while starting their meal they show the first bite to their fore head. In fact the fore head in this context signifies the intense deep prayer region of brain where one connects with the God, nature or universe.
Some times we take certain things for granted. We do not care for our fellow mates and their emotions.
Doors, Keybpards, CPUs are lifeless entities even some time we humans do not take care of living ctreatures. One of my friends requested me to bring tickets for him for the next evening’s bus. As my house is near to the bus station I happily agreed to do the favour. Next day when I showed him the tickets on our meeting in a restuarant. I was shocked to see that instead of showing any gratitude or listening to me, why and how I procured those tickets. He gave very angry gestures because he was expecting the tickets of more late hours which practically was not possible. With fury hands he took the tickets and kept on giving a very uncomfortable frowning look.
I felt sorry for him both ways one for getting the tickets up to his satisfaction and another on his behaviour. Literally I felt pity on his animality reflexes. I was able to see that those were not the traits of a very successful man. It just recapitulated me my doors, chair, taple, camera, car, dog, parents, wife and countless other things to whom i do not want to miss in my life and say, “Thank you for being part of my life “
Thank you Aunt for teaching me such a wonderful lesson.
