Unlike Rajni Sir’s Chitti character in movie Enthiran who can read and memorize books by rapidly scanning through pages we have a scanner robot called BFS-Auto which is high speed & high definition book scanner. It is developed at the University of Tokyo’s Ishikawa Oku LaboratoryIt can easily scan books at a rate of 250 pages per minute.

We are into the era of eBooks where more and more books and even libraries are getting digitized, people are now able to read books on their gadgets. Instead of doing the scaning job for yourself, with BSF-Auto you just have to be ready to load books into the chamber and it takes not one but two pictures of each page, one while the page is in motion to try and get a shot of it being flat without missing any pages. Also there’s software behind the scenes to help flatten the images out. It’ll be available in markets by 2013.
