It becomes the moral responsibility of Google not to misuse user privacy and data. About six months ago, Google came up with Dashboard to provide with transparency and greater control. However the most noble corporation is only as transparent as they have to be. You can customize your profile information for each of the services, you can just click on any of the items to go directly to the respective Google service and update your account information.
Google Dashboard is a central location where users of Google services can see which Google services they use, change how they use them, and find out what information Google collects about their usage habits. It is to help you view and control information stored in your Google Account. It offers a simple view into the data associated with your account — easily and concisely in one location. It is organized according to the products you use (like Gmail, Docs or YouTube), listing data stored in your account and providing direct links to control your personal settings.
As claimed by Google on average, around 100,000 unique visitors a day check out their Dashboard, 85 percent for the first time. Since launch, we’ve worked to grow Dashboard, adding a number of other Google products including Sites, Maps, Books, Webmaster Tools, Buzz, Goggles, Sidewiki and Analytics. We’re still working on adding other products to the tool and are talking with users about new ways to improve the functionality moving forward.
Some items in your profile information for each Google service have icons of people next to them. This indicates that the profile information is public, or the data behind that link is shared with other users of that service in some way. This way you can see quickly what information is stored about you, but also what information is public and available for the world to see.
Designed to be simple and useful, the Dashboard summarizes data for each product that you use (when signed in to your account) and provides you direct links to control your personal settings. Today, the Dashboard covers more than 20 products and services, including Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Web History, Orkut, YouTube, Picasa, Talk, Reader, Alerts, Latitude and many more.
If you haven’t looked at your own Dashboard yet, check it out at www.google.com/dashboard.
