Blogging – A Challenge

by | Mar 10, 2009 | Writer's Attic

After getting my eBook published on internet I was congratulated by many but one response which was slightly strange by one of my (non-blogger) friend made me numb for a while.

He asked me why I wasted my time in writing, editing and formatting this book or even why I waste my time on my blogs. Though I didn’t try to satisfy this question which I rated silly.

Instead I tried dwelling upon the question ‘Is blogging such a taboo?’ I asked him for a suggestion what else should I do. he suggested reluctantly may be some business which can earn you few more pennies.

I whispered may be this is my business and I am earning lot of contentment out of it which monitory development could have done eventually. I do not blog for my living (I won’t mind doing so) but what raises priority of my blogging habit.

Is it the intense desire to blab or Is it to show off in Blogosphere community?

It can be seen as a hobby or passion or some extra time of my day to sprinkle with a few more smiles.

As I grew up I witnessed lots of hobby taste switches, it started from reading comics, watching TV to playing Video Games then outdoor Sports followed by Cinema, Taekwondo, Girls then S/W Development and now Blogging I suppose.

What keeps on driving?

In my earlier job I use to waste a lot of time with my immediate boss in unnecessary meetings which seldom resulted in any constructive outcome. We wasted even more time when our super boss used to visit us from the headquarters once in month.

he always kept us indulged in waiting for some good news or reviews. The real progress which I could ever deliver was the time when I was alone doing simply work. This was not to please someone but for the sake of work.

I don’t know whether it was a pressure or job threat but I really loved my work. After all, there’s nothing better than loving your work.

I never realized when my blogging started communicating. I still remember when I initiated one of my blogs which was more a place to scribble. My achievements and frustrations and there was only one reader, only me.

Without realizing that some one else is reading it some day I got very good response. At the moment I become conscious that blogging is a bit similar to publishing newspaper. If you want your readers keep visiting you then you must stick to a rock-solid agenda.

Love of blogging is a good thing, so find a balance that works for you and be committed to creating the blog that will serve you on many levels to keep you on edge.

I will never be a proponent of astronomical number of hits, Page Ranks and SEO because daily blogging experience is a source of enjoyment and communication for me.

The parting tip for today is that keep blogging as a habit until and unless you see your readers stay glued to your articles which matches your conviction. Remember, in passion there are no impossibilities.

Over to you…

Good editorial! I don’t post for the number of hits either. BUT I miss your blogs about BYB Sunday — are you not participating anymore? OR am I going to the wrong link?

I think therefore I blog! I saw this catch line somewhere (Indiblogger? Not sure.) There maybe various reasons for blogging, but there is one thing that is confirmed. A majority of bloggers are good people. I can give you evidence after evidence supporting this. That alone is a good reason to contribute to the Blogosphere.

You have cool blog going! Keep the good work up.

Please consider submitting your blog at http://www.squidoo.com/Blogroll-India Your blog deserves a wider audience.

I blog because I love to hear myself speak 🙂
In my current job, there is very less human interaction and all work and no play makes me a dull boy, so I simply blog. Have never bothered about the hits and runs on the blog. I do agree to your point that bloggers are good people, at least I know some of them and they are pretty good one!
Stumbled here from Himvani, and this is a good one. Keep up the great work
