The Promise

by | Jan 20, 2011 | Productivity

The person manifesting the intention is the promiser. The person to whom the manifestation is addressed is the promisee. If the promise is obviously misunderstood, the contract is void. Some say that the contract is a promise for a promise. What in case the promiser and promisee are the same entity. Yes I am talking about your resolutions.

Have you broken your New Year’s resolution yet? I am always surprised by the fact, why these resolutions are made on the New Year? Any moment in our life can begin a new phase in our life. If your inner concise does not allows you to do break your old habit then I am sorry to say that the New Year eve can’t help you out.

Let’s discuss in today’s post the practical ways of keeping the promise to self. When a promiser breaks the promise he not only hurts the promisee but also himself. Changing old habits and beliefs are easy and difficult as well, it solely depends on you. Have you ever thought why all those New Year resolutions don’t work? It must have happened to you again and again, year after year. If you aren’t an enthusiast for this life you can never live your promises. To live life, to live each moment with enthusiasm is to really live life.

The quality of life, the quality of the work done, the quality of relationships, everything is enriched through enthusiasm. Where there is enthusiasm there is maximum recognition and usage of everything available. Enthusiasm spreads to others too, gives them the courage to do their best and enrich their lives.

A resolution to avoid an evil is seldom framed till the evil is so far advanced as to make avoidance impossible.

Generally the resolutions which do no not last for long are made under peer pressure and friends who keeps telling us, “you should do this” or “you should do that”. It is a cycle. People make resolutions. They make honest plans to keep the resolutions. Then they can’t keep up with those plans.

An important factor to start positive change in our lives is for there to be a passion, a powerful force that leads us, a final goal that keeps us motivated. It is important to set yourself goals, to be convinced and to have the confidence and faith that one can reach them, since in this way we will make a daily effort to achieve those goals.

There needs to be a clearly defined sense of purpose to your existence, clarifying the values that must guide your life in order to achieve these goals and establish the steps you must take for inculcating these values. If, at a subconscious level, you allow a mistaken purpose to be created, or there is a lack of true purpose in your life, then you will not be motivated to know and change yourself.

Many people think that the purpose of their life is to survive and they use the language of survival in this way: “Life is hard out there”, “You must get whatever you can”. They are not aware that they have chosen this purpose, but subconsciously it is what they believe they are here for, and this makes them think that they must accumulate, take, create barriers to protect themselves and compete with others.

To keep my promises I need to be enthusiastic. When I am enthusiastic, I am able to enjoy everything that comes my way. The biggest obstacle seems like a game for me, and I pass it by easily, without experiencing any difficulty. Confidence builds up in me and gives me the courage to be the best in all I do. I slowly increase my own potential and steadily move on towards success.
