The Samsung Galaxy S2 followed on from the previous incarnation of the premium device and has become one of the biggest and best handsets in the business. So what has made this device so popular?

We look into the best five things about the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Screen

Though some phones now have higher resolutions the S2 has managed to have a better screen through its brilliant Super AMOLED Plus display. This has taken everything Samsung have learnt from their TV making and transferred it into the screen of the phone. This leaves us with a screen that we can do nothing but love to watch. No matter how much of a tilt the display still has an even and strong contrast of colours and is a joy for videos and web browsing.

Processor

The Samsung Galaxy S2 comes with a dual core 1.2GHz powerhouse that is designed by ARM and can take on the most powerful and heavy of tasks. The processor is a monster and eats up whatever sort of multitasking is thrown at it. In fact, at the moment it is so powerful that there aren’t any apps available that can even cause the phone to stutter.

Android

The Galaxy S2 was one of the first to come with Gingerbread Android and it really benefits from it. Add to this Samsung’s own TouchWiz technology and you are in for a treat. The phone has some of its own lovely applications for Samsung, including the Social Hub and Games Hub, as well as a number of wonderful Google applications and access to Android Market. It makes a great phone and is a pleasure to use.

Camera

The phone also comes with an 8 megapixel camera that we can assure you is excellent and works very well with the screen. The camera can also take 1080p footage and is an excellent for taking and passing onto the big screen via DLNA connection wirelessly.

Slim

The device is also amazingly slim, and although those who are looking for something to complain about will see it as a flimsy plastic device – it is not – they will ignore it’s amazing slimness and its attractive simple design. In fact we love it from its simple fascia to its monolithic look.

Wrapping up

These are some of the reasons that the Galaxy S2 is shaping up to be a hugely popular device, with more than 5 million Galaxy S2 deals sold in just the first couple of months of sale. In fact, it is not far off beating its predecessor for the title of bestselling Android phone of all time, and is the biggest current threat to the iPhone brand. A few months on and it is still one of the most popular phones on the market.

I did not have a good experience with these ‘smartphones’. The features are all right but sadly, post sales services suck here in India. I have a HTC Desire Z which developed problems and was sent for repairs. Its’s more than 20 days it has been lying at the service center and still no chances of getting back soon.

I would say check the post sales guarantees of these companies too. HTC post sales is pathetic in India.

I am back to the old and trusted Nokia E73 these days !!!
