Last month a news came that a 47 years old man Ian Tomlinson who was a news paper seller collapsed from a heart attack during the G20 protest protests outside the Bank of England who further died. Then came certain voices which spoke that this person was brutally hit by a masked Territorial Support Group (TSG) officer deputed on the site with a watch dog squad. Ian was not a protestor rather a huge football fan and was probably on his way back from work to watch the England match and unfortunately got caught up in the crowds.

As per the police statements there was no police contact with Mr Tomlinson. He died of a heart attack. Protesters rained missiles at police rescuing and treating Mr Tomlinson. There were no CCTV cameras covering the assault on Mr Tomlinson. There were CCTV cameras, but they were not working.

This statement was supported by the postmortem report of the victim. Then came the twist in whole scenario when A New York fund manager produced a recorded footage of the whole episode, saying he came forward with the video because Mr. Tomlinson’s family was not getting justice. This opened the way to the delayed second post mortem result raises disturbing questions about the Government pathologist who carried out the original post mortem examination and the police spokesmen who told lies that there was no police contact with Tomlinson and that protesters threw missiles at police treating him.

Hitting brutally a totally innocent person who is not at all uncooperative with the police and was walking away from them raise lot of disturbing questions. Now at least the involved TSG officer has been suspended but the home secretary has to answer the questions raised by this video footage over police riot tactics at the G20 summit.

It also calls into question the version of events which differs from the one the police gave to the media at the time of incident. If this American tourist had not caught on camera that crucial stage of the unprovoked police assault on Tomlinson, the original fake post mortem report of a heart attack would have concealed the truth.
