Everyone wants to turn successful in this high speed world. The success seems to be associated with complexity but it is not true. As they say there is a hairline difference between wisdom and foolish. Similar is the case of simplicity & complexity and it is an art where you hang yourself. It’s time to check the basics once again. The thumb rule remains the same.
Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius – and a lot of courage – to move in the opposite direction.–E.F. Schumacker
Recently India elected Dr. Manmohan Singh as its Prime Minister again for the next tenure. All of those who know him will agree that he has won over all his contenders on the scale of simplicity. The other major reason we gradually move to complexity because it is somewhere deep down in our psychology. It comes from the inherent trait of human ego.
As per Albert Einstein, Everything should be as simple as it is, but not simpler.

These are the points which I have realized in my so far blogging life:
1.Simpler is Shorter
2.Simple Language
3.Simple Styles
4.Visitors Vs Readers
5.Focus
6.Response Time
Be short and succinct and keep your language simple! Simple isn’t easy but it pays. Easy means achieved without great effort. Simple means easily understood. A complicated post can be delivered in half the time it takes to produce a simple one. Most readers today prefer simple site such that is easy to use. Google and Twitter are the good examples.
If you are writing to the general public, don’t write like you are writing to a technical journal or a law or medical journal. You need to write to your audience, not over them and darn sure. Write your post in a clear and concise fashion so your readers can easily follow what you are trying to provide to them. And don’t show off your huge vocabulary either.
Use simple fonts. The researchers concluded on giving students written instructions for an exercise routine but these instructions were printed using two different font styles. Interestingly, it was found that students who received the instructions written in normal font were more likely to go through the tasks than the ones who received the same set of instructions but written in some fancy font styles.
Visitors who we hope become regular Readers and eventually subscribers. When you keep your articles simple and easy to read, there will be more likelihood of readers to come back to your site more often and the more often your readers return, the more opportunities you will have for them to click on one of your affiliate links
You can’t do so many things on the same time. Though your expectations might be higher from your blog but the bad news is that you have to keep yourself and your readers focused You may use visual elements (size, motion, color, position, and shape) to draw attention toward the call to action. Other elements which are more easier to use are Block quotes, Bullets, Numbering, Paragraphs, Sub-headings, Bold, Underline and Italics text, with highlighted areas.
Have a check on the download time of your blog pages i.e. how many milliseconds it takes to open up your pages. Users do not have that patience to keep waiting your lengthy pages. Portions of post in home page and the count of widgets have to be decided with no compromise on the speed issue. Never use popups as these distract your users and they avoid visiting your pages.
The Internet is like a world passing around notes in a classroom and the life is boomerang, If you want the world to focus on you you have to devote time focusing it. |
Great job here.
I really enjoyed what you said.
Keep going because your theme and style are simpler too.
Can’t wait to see more of this from you…
