Wider display screen boost your efficiency

by | Oct 9, 2011 | Productivity

I am of a opinion that we must keep on trying doing something new at your workplace. Your monotonous job may turn you less creative and it becomes imperative to keep check on this issue. Morevoer when you feel bored of a particular job it doesn’t mean that you are over, try changing the work in some interesting fashion and you feel fresh in a while.

I appreciate whole heartedly the technology for giving us ultra thin display technology. I own a 32 inch full HD monitor in my living room which I some times use as my extended home office in order to have better feel and visualizations particularly while doing some graphic and designinng jobs.

Studies suggests clearer your screen is, calmer your mind will become. The productivity level shooted up to 52% increase for certain tasks when people used a larger monitor up to 24 inches. On the bigger screen, people completed the tasks at least 10 to 40 percent more quickly depending upon the nature of job being executed. People were also more likely to remember the seven digit number, which showed that the multitasking was clearly less taxing on their brains.

One important factor while migrating from smaller monitors to larger ones, do not make the simple mistake of continuing to run everything maximized . While we more or less had to do this on smaller screens, there is really no reason to run your web browser maximized on a 22″ screen. Its heaven for the people who are addicted of doing multitasking, you’re supposed to put two, or three, or four, windows on the same screen for increased productivity. Open up your web browser on one side of the screen, open 2 chat windows and your media player on the other. Instead of switching between windows using the taskbar, you can simply have everything in front of you. Some of the volunteers who participated in the experiment were so enthralled with the huge screen that they begged to take it home.
