Adieu 2020 My Biggest Lessons of Year – Keep Striving When Others Are Sleeping

by | Dec 31, 2020 | Idiosyncrasies

Almost all of the people know ‘What they do’, but there is another category of people who also know ‘How they do’ – what all they do. Only a very low percentage of people know ‘Why they do’. It takes your clarity in thoughts and vision to articulate the What, How, and Why of whatever they do throughout the day.

It requires knowing your purpose. The ‘why’ of anything is that strong emotion that sparks your mind and drives you. It is the trigger for your mind to your body to leave the comfort zone and to work rigorously on your goals. So first find yours why!

This year was altogether unique when the whole world was struggling with the Pandemic crisis. We were from that lucky lot for whom the year was quite normal. Due to the nature of our work for me and my family, it was more or less the same.

The only major difference was the home schooling part. Also we got out kids switched from the convent school to the Govt. school. My this decision was initially opposed in the family but eventually, everyone was satisfied. Also this decision brought few inconspicuous benefits which we were not expecting at all.

Other than this amid of the imposed lock-down my brother initiated constructing a new house at our farm. We ended up with the first phase of construction which included the outer concrete structure by the year end. Next year we intend to finish it.

Though I always wanted to read loads and loads of books but to my incompetence of fast reading. I always ended up by giving up that book in the middle. But this year I tried audio book summaries and was able to finish more than fifty titles by the year end. I’ve compiled the list on my bookshelf.

This year I also tried to work further on our singing club YT channel and was able to shot a couple of videos with my musical chums. Also, I started learning basic Sargamas it was quite enjoyable to experience. Also, I was able to manage to record my podcasts with some of my friends.

If you can’t measure it you can’t improve it.

As a lock-down effect in the month of November, I weighed 82 Kgs which was a wake-up call for me and I started working on it. On this day my weight is 75Kgs. This was very encouraging and my target weight by March 2021 is 65Kgs (as per my BMI). I’ve been thinking to achieve this since 2014. For the coming year, I’m planning to hit by an entirely practical approach. I’m able to track thins with the HealthifyMe mobile app and my new Dr.Trust weighing machine which was gifted to us by my brother & his wife.

With the ending year, I introspected and also found that I’m in desperate need of detoxification in terms of health, social media, and other miscellaneous aspects. In the spree to detoxify me, I’ve initiated to get rid of toxins from my life be it food, habits, company, and whatnot.

To conclude the main lesson which I knew from ages but hustled with it learned was starting while others are procrastinating. Working while other are wishing. So it’s time to work harder now, so your future self will thank you.

Save while others are wasting. It not only means money but energy as well. The best I could do was to listen while others are talking.

Other analogies from the famous quote are, Smile while others are frowning. Persist while others are quitting. Prepare while others are daydreaming. Study while others are sleeping. Decide while others are delaying.

You’re not going to hit your goals by getting drunk and partying every weekend. Use the weekend to build the life you want instead of trying to escape the life you have.
